The RAGE Crossbow X is a mechanical broadhead made for crossbow hunters. The old version of this review treated it like a complete crossbow. It is not. It is the cutting head that threads onto a crossbow bolt.

That difference matters. A broadhead must match your bolt, crossbow, game, and local rules. It also needs to fly well from your own setup. Here is what the Crossbow X offers and what I would check before taking it into the woods.

What the RAGE Crossbow X Is

The current RAGE Crossbow X NC 2-Blade uses two stainless steel blades and a cut-on-contact tip. RAGE lists a 2-inch cutting diameter, .035-inch blades, and an aluminum ferrule. It is sold in 100-grain and 125-grain versions.

This is a mechanical head. The blades stay closed in flight and open on impact. That keeps the head slim while it flies. The wide cut is meant to make a large wound channel after a good hit.

Match It to Your Crossbow

Do not pick a broadhead by name alone. Check the crossbow maker’s arrow weight, point weight, and broadhead rules first. Fast crossbows can put a lot of force on a bolt and head. Our Ravin R470 review shows why crossbow speed and the maker’s arrow setup matter.

The bolt matters too. A good head cannot fix a damaged or poorly matched shaft. If you are building a hunting setup, our Carbon Express PileDriver crossbolt guide explains another part of that system.

Practice Before You Hunt

I would never assume a hunting head hits in the same place as a field point. Shoot at a safe archery target before the season. Start close. Check your group. Then move back only when the shots stay tight.

A dedicated crossbow broadhead target can save wear on your regular target. Practice heads can also help when the maker offers one that matches the hunting head.

Check the Broadhead Before Every Hunt

Broadheads are sharp. Handle them with care. Look at the tip, blades, ferrule, and threads before use. Do not hunt with a bent, loose, dull, or damaged head. Keep fingers away from the blade edges when you install or remove one.

A small broadhead wrench can make installation safer. Follow the instructions for your crossbow and broadhead instead of gripping exposed blades with your hand.

Think Beyond the Broadhead

Good deer hunting starts before the shot. Learn the animal, pick a clear lane, know your safe range, and wait for a shot you can make well. Our beginner deer hunting guide covers the larger plan from hunter education through tracking and field care.

Deer also spend a lot of time near food and cover. Even a garden can show how quickly deer learn where easy food is found. This guide to keeping deer out of a garden is a useful reminder of how persistent deer can be around a steady food source.

Is the RAGE Crossbow X Worth It?

The Crossbow X makes sense for hunters who want a two-blade mechanical head with a wide 2-inch cut. I like that the current model is simple to understand and comes in two common weights.

Still, the broadhead is only one part of the shot. Match it to your crossbow. Test it before hunting. Inspect it often. Most of all, keep your shots inside the range where you can place the bolt with care. That matters more than any claim on a package.
